Interview - Ryan Salter/Weasel Face

1.Rad and chaotic greetings from Perú,Ryan! How are you bro? hows going the things there?
Yeh things are good, summers over now which sucks!

2.Tell us how you start your sick proyect called Weasel Face?
Well I've been drawing under my real name for some time, and my mate Trawler suggested I have a 'cool artist' name instead of my own, and he suggested Weasel Face cus' my Facebook photo at the time was me doing a bean plant and my face looked all weird and weasel like, so yeh that's where the name came from
Ryan Salter.

3.Which are your influences and motivations to do your sick artwork?
Just skating and day to day things influence me, like if I see something I'd think of  making a pun of it or if I see someone all haggard in the street I'd draw them. 80's slasher movies also, thrash/punk all that stuff has a big influence, and basically anything that pisses me off.

4.You have another proyect paralell to Weasel Face?
No not right now, have been thinking of doing a side project though, more clothing based.

5.For what bands, skate magazines or skate brands you worked?
Not a lot really, I've done a couple graphics for Heroin Skateboards, just finished one for Assault Skates, about to start working on a board for Death Skateboards. I've done some stuff for Vans too. Done a lot of stuff for Confusion Mag, love working on stuff for Jonathan Hay! He's rad.

6.Your opinion about:

DIY:
JIM PHILLIPS:
ANTIHERO SKATEBOARDS:

Yeh D.I.Y is always rad, well into all that, me and my friends had this quarter we made a few years ago, was the gnarliest thing to skate ever, was so narrow and had so much vert on it, was stupid really no one could skate it haha! It's good to see all these rad D.I.Y spots popping up though. I'm stoked I managed to skate at Channel St. while it was still open.
Jim Phillips, obviously is a huge influence, love that guy. Got a whole lot of his boards on the wall.
Anti Hero Skateboards, yeh rad, one of the few proper skateboard companies with real skateboarders. From Fucktards til now it's all rad.

7.Explaim some more about the underground and diy skateboarding scene from your city.
There isn't really an underfground/ D.I.Y scene in my city, there's like 1 D.I.Y spot but it sucks, our spot got destroyed, of course, cus everyone's a cunt. Our local skatepark really sucks, it's real small and riddled with scootards, apparently in the next year we will be getting a couple bowls added onto it which is rad, but who knows. Music scene's getting better though... and we've just started a crossover band.

8.You know the underground and diy skateboarding scene from Southamerica?
Not a huge amount to be honest!

9.Destructive future plans?
Well getting this band thing on the go, playing some shows! Got a few projects lined up which I'm stoked on.

10.Last words Ryan and thanks for your time in this interview.
Thanks mate!
